After a feeling out 1st, Liddell came out aggressive in the second and dropped Ortiz with a vicious flurry of punches against the cage to stop Ortiz in the 2nd.

After an accidental eye poke, Couture rushed forward but Liddell countered with a straight right hand that dropped Couture to the mat with GnP that put him OUT to capture the belt and get revenge.

Liddell dominated his power and striking dropping Horn multiple times. In the 4th, big shots swelled Horn’s eye shut after Liddell continued the assault, Horn told the ref he can’t see to stop it.

A high paced war. The 1st was competitive with both landing hard shots. In the 2nd, Liddell countered Couture with a brutal right hook that dropped Couture finishing with GnP to retain the title.

In a quick rematch, Liddell dropped Sobral early with strikes then swarmed with a flurry of punches against the cage for the stoppage.

A wild match full of big swings. Ortiz had moments and took Liddell down, but Liddell’s power and chin prevailed. In the 3rd, Liddell rocked Ortiz badly against the cage with a barrage of punches, forcing the referee to stop it.
Liddell(21-5) vs Wanderlei Silva(31-7-1)
UFC 79: Nemesis
Dream matchup between two knockout artists. Both traded heavy punches and kicks in a high-tempo war. Liddell landed cleaner, stuffed Silva’s rushes, and added late takedowns. Silva showed heart but absorbed more damage.
This would be Liddell’s final W in his career. He would be forced to retire 2 fights later after 2 brutal KO losses. Liddell should be remembered as one of the most important figures in MMA history. He helped bring the sport into the mainstream during the 2000s with his aggressive knockout style, toughness, and willingness to fight anyone. His memorable rivalries and highlight-reel finishes made him one of the UFC’s first crossover stars and played a major role in the growth of the sport worldwide.
